Currently, we hold two launches a month, on the first Sunday from 12 Noon to 4:30pm, and the third Saturday from 10:00am to 2:30pm. Our launch site is located in Bear Creek Lake Park, in Lakewood, Colorado. To get there, take C-470 to Morrison Road, and head east on Morrison about 1/4 mile to the park entrance on the right. Go through the main gate (there is a $5.00 vehicle fee), and go left at the first stop sign. Go about 2 miles and turn left at the next stop sign. Follow the road to the parking lot on the right. Our launch site is at the Mountain View parking site.

There are some very important points to remember about launching rockets at Bear Creek Lake Park:

  • DO NOT launch any rockets at the park except during scheduled club activities. This is due to our club having insurance through the NAR, and established rocketry safety procedures.
  • DO NOT climb the face of the dam at any time. If your rocket should happen to land on the dam, please take the road up to the north end of the dam and walk across the top to retrieve your rocket.

Review the full list of our Club Launch Rules and Range Procedures. Each launch will require a Crash Flight Card to be filled out. These cards are made available at the launch site or you can choose to print your own flight cards and have them filled out when you arrive. If possible, print your flight cards on thicker, card stock paper.

C.R.A.S.H. conducts FAA-notified, non-waivered launches. This means that we can fly rockets with a maximum gross liftoff weight of 1,500 grams (approximately 3.3 lbs., or 52 oz.), and a propellant weight limit of 125 grams. This propellant limit includes some 38mm AeroTech reloadable H-class motors (H123, H242), as well as a few others. If you are unsure if a certain motor - or combination of motors - is permitted, please ask before flying.

Facilities at the park are limited, but include a pit toilet and and running water via a pump for emergency use during late spring and summer months.

Everyone is welcome to fly with us. See ya there!
